The child is 16.7 cm long from crown to rump and weighs 500 grams. The fingernails form gradually, followed later by the toenails. The fingernails grow faster. The baby is able to respond to loud noises. It sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. The lungs have now developed to the level where they can breathe. The baby’s face is now covered with fine, down-like hairs called lanugo. From here, the hairs spread to the entire body. Enamel has now formed on the teeth. In girls, the vagina has now fully developed. The baby responds to touch like a one-year-old. The baby’s hearing has fully developed and it can respond to music and other sounds. Loud noises can feel uncomfortable.
