The fetus is approximately 12 cm long from crown to rump and weighs 200 grams. Sebaceous glands have formed. The first stools, also called meconium, are now beginning to accumulate in the bowels. The retina has become sensitive to light. For girls, the ovaries are now positioned at the iliac crest. Only when the girl is about eight years old will they descend into the pelvis. The fetus is able to suck its thumb. The fetus has now a primitive memory and is able to recognise simple things, e.g. certain sounds.
